How to Ride

Safe on the road with the e-scooter

With an e-scooter, you can get around the Basel Fun Zone quickly and comfortably. In addition to the general traffic rules and regulations for scooters, there are a few tips to keep in mind so that you arrive safely at your destination.

Before you go!

► Before your first ride, familiarise yourself with the e-scooter: see how you brake and accelerate and check the lights, indicators and mirrors.

► It is best to do your first lap in a place with quiet traffic.

► Wear light-coloured clothing, especially in the dark. This will make you more visible to other road users.

► Wear a helmet. Wearing a helmet is compulsory and also applies to the person accompanying you. Two helmets are provided in each top case of the Pick-e-Bike e-scooters, but you may also bring your own.

On the road

► Observe the traffic regulations in force.

► Drive with foresight and pay attention to what is happening around you in traffic. Care is particularly important when riding an e-scooter.

► Use the turn signals to indicate that you are turning.

► Take tight turns slowly, especially on wet and frozen roads.

► If you are on the normal lane, use the middle of the lane.

► Only overtake on the left.

► Keep a safe distance from other vehicles.

► Do not pass lines of stationary vehicles.
